George Avraam is a journalist, scriptwriter and producer based in Cyprus. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Social Sciences from Frederick University of Cyprus. With more than 26 years of experience in the media industry, he has worked across radio, newspapers, and television, building a strong career in storytelling and audiovisual production. He is one of the co-founders of Walking Around The World Productions, a company focused on creative documentaries, fiction films with a strong human and social dimension. As a writer and producer, he has created three short films, three short documentaries, and one feature-length creative documentary. His work explores themes of memory, identity, displacement, and human experience, combining emotional storytelling with social relevance. His latest documentary, When the Swallows Fall Silent, was completed on January 10, 2025, continuing a long-term creative vision that documents the same community and characters over time, capturing social change across generations. The film has been screened internationally and presented in educational contexts, encouraging dialogue with younger audiences. George Avraam’s films have been screened internationally in the USA, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Greece, India, South Africa, and Cyprus, and have received awards at international film festivals. Notably, his films 30 and Beloved Days were released in cinemas in the United Kingdom, Hungary, and Cyprus. His documentaries Hope Against Hopelessness and Beloved Days, along with his short films 30 and Milk-Rose, have been selected for worldwide distribution through Films Media Group, 7 Palms Entertainment, and COSMOTE TV. His work has also been featured in interviews and media coverage by outlets such as euronews.gr and Hollywood Chicago, among others. Beyond filmmaking, he delivers seminars and masterclasses in universities and schools, aiming to inspire new generations and promote responsible, meaningful storytelling.
